Rear Brake Pressure Regulator — Adjustment (VAZ-2110)

            0

Contents: Adjustment ↓ Examination ↓
The need to adjust the brake pressure regulator arises after its replacement, replacement of the rear suspension springs, or when the rear wheel brakes are not working properly.

To perform work on adjusting the brake pressure regulator on a vehicle, you will need:
  • inspection pit or overpass
  • drill or piece of wire with a diameter of 2 mm
  • assistant.

Adjustment

1. Prepare the car for repair work (see points 2b and 4 "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair").

2. The unloaded vehicle should be placed on an inspection pit or overpass.

3. Press the rear of the car several times to adjust the suspension.

4. Measure the gap "A" between the plate and the lever (see below), which should be 2.0-2.1 mm. If the gap size does not correspond to the required size, adjust the brake pressure regulator drive.

5. Using a 13 mm open-end wrench, loosen the front bolt securing the pressure regulator to the bracket.

6. You can use a piece of wire or a 2 mm diameter drill as a feeler gauge.

7. Using large sliding pliers, move the adjusting bracket, setting the gap between the plate and the lever to 2 mm.

8. Tighten the front bolt securing the brake pressure regulator to the bracket.

Examination

During sudden braking, the rear wheels should lock slightly (1-2 sec) relative to the front wheels. The assistant steps aside and watches the car's wheels lock.

At a speed of about 40 km/h, we press the gas pedal sharply with enough force to lock the wheels.

a) If the rear wheels lock up before the front ones, then the gap "A" must be increased.

b) If the rear wheels do not lock or lock too late, then the gap "A" must be reduced.
