To perform the work you will need a reliable support for the car.
Removal
Warning: Struts should be replaced in pairs, even if only one is faulty.
1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. Remove the front wheel (see "Wheel - replacement").
3. Disconnect the steering rod end from the steering column pivot arm (see "Tie Rod End - Replacement").
4. Remove the protective cap of the upper support of the rack.
Note: If you remove the strut for disassembly, loosen the shock absorber rod nut with a special tool.
5. With a socket wrench by 13 mm using a deep socket, unscrew the three nuts securing the upper support of the strut to the car body.
6. To minimize the distortion of the front wheel camber angle, use a punch or paint to make marks on the upper steering knuckle mounting bolt and the strut bracket.
7. Key by 19 mm unscrew the nuts of the upper and lower mounting bolts of the steering knuckle to the rack, holding the bolts from turning with a wrench by 17 mm.
8. Remove the washers from the bolts (eccentric upper bolt washer) and remove the bolts.
9. Remove the brake hose from the rack bracket.
10. Remove the rack assembly from the vehicle.
Installation
1. Install the rack in reverse order.
2. Tighten the nuts securing the upper support to the body to a torque of 19.6-24.2 N·m (2.0-2.4 kgf·m).
3. Before tightening the nuts of the steering knuckle-to-strut mounting bolts, align the marks on the eccentric bolt and bracket.
4. Tighten the bolt nuts to a torque of 77.5-96.1 N·m (7.9-9.8 kgf·m).
