Note. The replacement of the additional muffler is shown on cars with engine 21124 (1.6i). The features of replacing the additional muffler on a car with engine 2112 (1.5i) are indicated in the text.
To carry out repair work, an inspection pit or overpass is required.
Removal
1. Prepare the car for repair work (see points 2b and 4 "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair").
2. Disconnect the additional muffler from the main one (see "Metal-graphite sealing ring of the exhaust pipe - replacement").
3. On the VAZ 21124 engine (l,6i), disconnect the additional muffler from the intake pipe (see point 4 "Metal-graphite sealing ring of the exhaust pipe - replacement").
On the VAZ 2112 engine (l,5i), disconnect the additional muffler from the catalytic converter (see "Catalyst (catalytic converter) vAZ 2112 engine (1.5i) - removal and installation").
4. Remove the additional muffler from the car, removing its brackets from the suspension cushions.
Installation
We install an additional muffler and all removed parts on the car in the reverse order of removal. If necessary, we replace the additional muffler suspension cushions and the metal-graphite sealing ring of the hinge joint.
