Recommendation. Violations in the operation of the fuel gauge sensor are most often associated with wear of the contact part of its rheostat. This can be verified by measuring its electrical resistance with an ohmmeter while smoothly moving the lever with the float from one extreme position to another. A defective fuel gauge sensor should be replaced.
Removing
1. Remove the fuel pump module (see "2112 engine fuel pump fuel module (1,5i) - removal, installation, replacement").
2. Press the latch (1) wire connectors (3) and disconnect the connector from the terminals (2) on the cover of the fuel pump module.
3. We release the clamp wire connectors (1) and disconnect the connector from the fuel pump (2). Loosen the two screws with a Phillips screwdriver (3) fixing the fuel gauge sensor.
4. Remove the fuel gauge.
Installation
We install a new fuel gauge sensor on the car and all the removed parts in reverse order.
