Recommendation. Malfunctions of the fuel level indicator sensor are most often associated with wear of the contact part of its rheostat. This can be verified by measuring its electrical resistance with an ohmmeter while smoothly moving the lever with the float from one extreme position to another. A faulty fuel level indicator sensor should be replaced.
Removal
1. Remove the fuel module (see "Fuel module of the gasoline pump of the engine 21124 (1.6i) - removal, installation, replacement").
2. The fuel pump fuel module cover is held on two guides. A spring is placed on one of the guides. The spring is secured with a retaining ring installed in the upper annular groove of the guide. To remove the fuel level indicator sensor, use a slotted screwdriver with a narrow blade to pry up and slide the retaining ring into the lower groove of the guide.

3. Lift the cover of the fuel pump fuel module.
4. Remove the wire tip from the fuel pressure regulator terminal.

5. Press the wire connector lock...

...and disconnect the connector from the fuel pump fuel module cover.

7. Disconnect the connector from the fuel pump.

8. Release the two sensor clamps.
