Recommendation. Repair work to replace the fuel pump requires experience and accuracy (fuel module elements can be damaged), therefore, in the event of a fuel pump malfunction, it is recommended to replace the fuel module with the fuel pump assembly.
To perform repair work on replacing the fuel pump on a car, you will need: hair dryer (technical) or hot water.
Removing
1. Remove the fuel module (see "21124 engine fuel pump fuel module (1,6i) - removal, installation, replacement").
2. Remove the fuel pump from the fuel module housing (see items 3-7 "21124 engine fuel pump fuel module (1,6i) - cleaning the strainer").
Warning. The mesh filter is held by a locking spring washer on the cylindrical ledge of the fuel pump.
3. Remove the strainer from the fuel pump nozzle.
4. At the same time, we help with a slotted screwdriver with a thin blade, gently shifting the lock washer along the tide.
5. Having pressed the latch, we take out the fuel pump from the holder.
6. With a hair dryer, heat up the end of the corrugated tube, put on the fuel pump nozzle.
Warning. Monitor the temperature of the heated parts, do not overheat the fuel pump and tube.
7. Remove the corrugated tube from the nozzle.
Installation
We install the fuel module and all removed parts on the car in reverse order.
At the same time, putting on the strainer, use a slotted screwdriver with a wide blade to press the spring washer of the filter onto the protrusion of the fuel pump.
