Warning. Before starting repair work, read the safety rules for working with the power system (see "Safety measures for the maintenance and repair of the power system").
Removing
1. Relieve fuel pressure in the fuel line (see "Fuel Line - Pressure Relief").
Warning. Depressurize the fuel line even if the vehicle has not been driven for a long time. After depressurizing, a small amount of fuel remains in the fuel lines.
2. We remove accumulated dust and dirt from the fuel pump module and treat the threaded connections with penetrating grease.
3. Having released the latch, disconnect the wire connector (1) from the fuel pump module. Disconnecting the wire connector (2).
4. So that the wires do not interfere, cut the clamp (3) and remove the wires with connectors (1 and 2).
5. With a 17 mm open-end wrench, unscrew the fitting (1) fuel drain pipe hose to the gas tank. Loosen the plug in the same way (2) tubes of a fuel line of a supply of fuel to the fuel filter.
6. We remove the tubes from the fuel pump module. O-rings are fitted at the ends of the tubes. Damaged rings must be replaced.
7. Using a 7 mm socket wrench, unscrew the eight nuts securing the fuel module.
8. Remove the pressure ring of the fuel pump fuel module. Underneath is a spacer ring.
9. Remove the fuel pump from the gas tank.
Warning. When removing the fuel module, do not bend the lever of the fuel gauge sensor. To do this, slightly tilt the fuel pump module and carefully remove the float from the gas tank opening.
Note. As a rule, it is not possible to remove the fuel pump module assembly with the intake chamber (plastic container, fixed with two rubber bushings on the rails of the fuel module cover) and the camera stays in the gas tank.
10. Remove the rubber seal. Replace damaged gasket.
11. We remove the intake chamber and pour gasoline out of it.
Installation
Recommendation. To install the fuel pump module in the gas tank, follow the assembly with the intake chamber.
1. Using a screwdriver, remove the two rubber bushings from the hole in the tides of the casing.
Note. One of the bushings may remain in the opening of the intake chamber.
2. After covering the bushings with a thin layer of engine oil, insert them into the holes in the intake chamber.
3. Insert the fuel pump into the chamber (bushings must enter the holes of the tides of the casing)...
... and with a thin beard we fill the bushings into the holes.
4. We put a sealing gasket on the fuel module.
5. Carefully inserting the float into the opening of the gas tank, install the fuel module...
... and orient it in the gas tank so that the arrow is directed towards the trunk.
Warning. When attaching the fuel pump fuel module, make sure that the arrow on its cover points towards the rear of the vehicle. To avoid damaging the studs, do not overtighten the nuts.
6. Install the clamping ring and evenly (in three to four doses) tighten the fuel module fastening nuts.
After connecting the fuel line fittings to the fuel pump fuel module, turn on the ignition for 5 seconds. and check the tightness of the connections. Tighten fittings if necessary.
Upon completion of work, install the hatch cover and the rear seat cushion in place.
