To complete the job you will need side cutters and a chisel.
Removal
1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. Remove the steering wheel (see "Steering wheel - removal and installation").
3. Remove the decorative steering column trims (see above, "Decorative steering column trims - removal and installation").
4. Remove the right and left steering column switches together with the connector (see "Steering column switches - removal and installation").
(The original is available on the online resource: «www.vazbook.ru»)
5. We cut the clamp of three wire harnesses and disconnect the connectors of the ignition switch wire harness.

6. With a socket wrench by 13 mm using an extension, unscrew the clamping bolt of the lower flange of the coupling.

7. Using a large slotted screwdriver, loosen the coupling flange.

8. Using a chisel and a hammer, lightly striking the edge of the round head tangentially, loosen the two special bolts of the front mounting of the steering column.

9. Finally, unscrew the special bolts with pliers and remove them together with the fixing plates.
10. With a deep-head socket wrench by 13 mm we unscrew the two nuts of the rear steering column mount.

11. Lower the steering column slightly and, pulling it towards you, remove the lower flange of the coupling from the steering gear shaft.
12. Remove the steering column from the car.
Installation
1. There is a chamfer on the drive pinion shaft. We put the coupling flange on the steering gear drive pinion shaft in a position where the slot in the coupling tip coincides with the central longitudinal line of the chamfer.
2. Wrap it up (without delay) coupling flange tightening bolt.
3. Place the steering column on the studs and tighten the rear bracket mounting nuts.
4. Wrap it up (without delaying completely) two special bolts with breakaway heads, having previously installed fixing plates under the bolts. The protruding part of the plate should enter the slots of the bracket. If there are no special bolts with breakaway heads, you can use M6 bolts 20 mm long.
Warning! Do not install regular washers under the front bracket mounting bolts instead of the retaining plates!
5. Tighten the tightening bolt of the flexible coupling flange, two bolts of the front mount (until the heads break off) and two nuts for the rear mounting of the steering column bracket.
6. Connect the ignition switch wire blocks.
7. Install the steering column switches complete with connector on the steering column and connect the wiring blocks to the switches (see "Steering column switches - removal and installation").
8. Install the steering wheel (see "Steering wheel - removal and installation").
9. Install decorative steering column trims.
10. Check the operation of the horn, switches and adjust the steering column angle.
