Removing
1. Remove the engine mudguard (see "Mudguard of the engine - removal and installation").
2. Remove the protective screen of the steering mechanism.
3. We press out the pins of the ball joints of the rods from the pivot arms of the front suspension struts (see "Upholstery of the engine compartment - removal and installation").
4. Prying with two slotted screwdrivers, remove the locking spring plate of the bolts for attaching the rods to the rail (shown with steering gear removed).
Warning! Right and left traction are not interchangeable.
5. socket wrench by 15 mm unscrew the bolts securing the rods to the steering rack.
6. Remove the top plate and disconnect the rods from the steering gear. If necessary, prying with a slotted screwdriver, remove the bottom plate.
Installation
1. Before installing new rods, make sure that their threaded inserts are wrapped in rods and tips for the same number of threads.
2. For the removed rods, we measure the distances between the holes of the rubber-metal hinges of their fastening to the steering mechanism (1) and the centers of the plugs of the holes for the ball pins in the rod ends (2).
3. By rotating the threaded insert, we set the length of the new rods in accordance with the length of the removed rods, after which we tighten the coupling bolts of the rod and the tip.
4. We install and connect the rods in the following sequence: we fix the inner ends of the rods on the steering mechanism by screwing on the pin bolts.
5. We insert the pins of the ball joints of the rods into the holes of the pivot arms of the racks, tighten and cotter the nuts of their fastening.
6. We install the car on wheels.
7. Tighten the mounting bolts.
8. Install the lock plate and protective cover.
9. Install the engine mudguard.
10. We adjust the toe angle of the front wheels in a specialized workshop.
