Advice. When adjusting the angle of the longitudinal inclination of the axis of rotation in the service center, the longitudinal extension will be removed again, so it is better to replace the extension in the same place, simultaneously with the adjustment.
To complete the work, you will need a viewing hole or overpass.
Removing
1. Remove the wishbone (see "The transverse suspension arm - removal and installation").
2. To minimize caster misalignment when installing the old caster brace, count and record the number of shims located at the rear and front ends of the brace.
3. Holding the stretch from turning with an open-end wrench by 24 mm, with a socket wrench of the same size with a long knob, unscrew the nut securing the front end of the longitudinal extension to the cross member.
4. Remove the thrust washer from the brace and remove the front end of the brace from the rubber-metal hinge of the cross member.
5. Remove the shims from the extension.
Installation
Recommendation. After replacing the longitudinal brace, it is necessary to check the angle of the longitudinal inclination of the axis of rotation in the service center.
We install the longitudinal stretching in the reverse order.
The shim hole is chamfered on one side. When installing shims, the chamfer should be directed towards the bend of the longitudinal brace.
