- spring ties;
- special tools for disassembling the suspension strut.
Disassembly
1. Remove the rack from the car (see "Front suspension strut - removal and installation").
2. We clamp the rack in a vice, as shown in the photo.
Attention! Be careful! A compressed spring has a lot of force and, if the tie breaks, it can cause injury.
3. We install the tie springs on opposite sides and evenly, without distortions, we tighten the spring until the load is removed from the upper cup of the spring.
4. Prying with a slotted screwdriver, remove the rubber plug from the hole in the housing of the upper rack support.
5. Install the fixture on the nut and shock absorber rod.
holding key by 17 mm anti-rotation shock absorber rod, wrench by 27 mm unscrew the nut.
6. Remove the nut and washer.
7. Remove the top support from the rack.
8. Remove the top cup of the spring.
9. Remove the spring (without removing the straps).
10 Remove the compression stroke bumper and the protective cover of the shock absorber rod.
Assembly
1. Before assembling the rack, fully extending and sinking the stem by hand, make sure the shock absorber is in good condition. If dips, jerks or extraneous sounds are heard when moving the rod, replace the shock absorber.
2. Check the integrity and serviceability of all elements installed on the rack. Replace a torn or cracked shock absorber boot, a damaged compression stroke stop, a cracked or loose suspension spring.
The springs of the front suspension are divided into classes according to stiffness: A and B. The class of the spring is indicated by paint on the outside of one of its coils. Class A - yellow or white paint; class B - green or blue.
Warning! Only one class of springs should be installed in the front suspension.
Recommendation. Front suspension springs (as well as shock absorbers) should be replaced as a set. Please note that the front suspension springs of cars with 8-valve and 16-valve engines are different. On vehicles with 2112 engines (1,5i 16V) and 21124 (1,6i 16V) springs have a different marking -class A are marked in orange, and class B is not marked.
