Disconnect the ground wire from the battery. Unscrew the fastening screws and remove the steering shaft cover. The handles are removed from the heater control levers, for which, at the junction of the handles with the lever, they are bent with a thin sharp tool: at the top handle, the lower part, and at the bottom, the upper part.
The switches are removed from the instrument panel and the wires are removed from the switches for the rear window cleaner, rear window heating, fog lamp, alarm signaling of the outdoor lighting switches, and the passenger compartment heater electric fan. Remove instrument cluster (see sect. «electrical equipment»), cigarette lighter and disconnect electrical wires from them. Unscrew the two screws securing the heater control lever bracket. Squeezing the hooks of the right pipe 4 (pic. 185) deflector 3, take out the pipe assembly with the deflector. Take out the ashtray 6 or plug 5. Unscrew the two fastening nuts and remove the fuse box from the studs.
Unscrew the self-tapping screws 7 from the brackets 8 of the instrument panel 2 and remove the panel assembly with the lining 1. The attachment points of the instrument panel 1, 2 to 3 are shown in fig. 186. Access to the screws at points 1 is carried out under the instrument panel, at points 2 - with the instrument clusters and the right deflector pipe removed.
The instrument panel is installed in the reverse order. Before installation, check the condition of the spring clips and self-tapping screws.
