Removal and installation the instrument cluster (VAZ-1111)

To remove the instrument cluster, open the hood and disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery. Disconnect the flexible shaft of the speedometer from the drive on the gearbox. Bend the left or right spring latch of the instrument cluster by hand under the instrument panel and push it out of the socket. Disconnect the wires and the flexible shaft of the speedometer drive from the instrument cluster.

The installation of the instrument cluster is performed in the reverse order of removal. The flexible shaft of the speedometer drive is first connected to the instrument cluster, and then after its installation - to the speedometer drive on the gearbox.

During installation, bends and loops of the flexible shaft must not be allowed, which may lead to residual deformation of its casing.

After installation of the instrument cluster, the flexible shaft must not have sharp bends under the instrument panel. The bending radii of the shaft shell in the mounted state must be at least 100 mm.

If a new flexible shaft is installed, it is recommended to apply consistent grease LSC-15 or Litol-24 to the shaft shell over a length of 50 mm before and after the seal before installing it on the vehicle. The seal should be located at a distance of 350 mm from the upper end of the shaft. The lubricated shaft shell will slide easily in the seal, and therefore a shaft loop will not form under the instrument panel when installing the instrument cluster in place. After applying the grease, pull the shaft in the seal two or three times to rub the grease in.
