To remove the instrument cluster, open the hood and disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery. Disconnect the speedometer flexible shaft from the drive on the gearbox. Under the instrument panel, bend the left or right spring latch of the instrument cluster by hand and push it out of the socket. Disconnect the wires and the flexible shaft of the speedometer drive from the instrument cluster.
Installation of a combination of devices carry out in an order, the return to removal. The flexible shaft of the speedometer drive is connected first to the instrument cluster, and then, after its installation, to the speedometer drive on the gearbox.
During installation, bends and loops of the flexible shaft, leading to permanent deformation of its shell, must not be allowed.
After installing the instrument cluster, the flexible shaft must not have sharp bends under the instrument panel. The bending radii of the shaft shell in the mounted state must be at least 100 mm.
If a new flexible shaft is installed, then before installing it on the car, it is recommended to apply grease LSTs-15 or Litol-24 to the shaft shell over a length of 50 mm before and after the seal. The seal must be at a distance of 350 mm from the top end of the shaft. The lubricated shaft cover will easily slide in the seal, and therefore no shaft loop will form under the instrument panel when the instrument cluster is reinstalled. After applying the lubricant, the shaft is pulled through the seal two or three times to rub the lubricant.
