Replacing the coolant (VAZ-1111)

Remove the expansion tank cap and open the interior heater tap. Place a container under the engine and unscrew the two drain plugs (in the radiator and cylinder block) and drain the liquid from the cooling system. After draining, tighten the plugs.

Fill the system with clean water. Pour water into the expansion tank until the level is 25-30 mm above the "MIN" mark, and tighten the expansion tank cap. Start the engine, warm it up at medium crankshaft speed to 90°C. At this temperature, the water will circulate in the small and large circles, and the radiator will be flushed. Stop the engine, drain the water, pour clean water into the system again and repeat the flush. Stop the engine, drain the water and pour coolant into the system. Start the engine, let it idle for 1-2 minutes to remove air locks. After the engine has cooled down, check the fluid level.

In northern regions, where Tosol is kept cold for a long time, it ages more slowly. Therefore, after the end of the warranty period, Tosol must be drained and its quality checked. If there is no dirt or oil in the liquid and it has retained its blue color, its density must be checked, if necessary, brought up to standard and used for another 1 year. After a year of operation, the check is repeated.
