Remove the thrust half ring 1 (figure 43), unscrew the mounting bolts and, using a process rod, press out the shaft until the front bearing 2 comes out of the cylinder block seat. Remove the front bearing from the balance shaft, remove the retaining ring 3 from the cylinder block and take out the balance shaft 4. Remove the rear bearing 5 from the cylinder block after pressing out the plug that covers the bearing.

Install the balance shaft in the following order. Install the plug on the UG-6 sealant and press the rear bearing into the cylinder block using a mandrel in the form of a pipe with an outer diameter of 50 mm, an inner diameter of 30 mm and a length of 100 mm. Insert the rear end of the balance shaft into the rear bearing and install the retaining ring 3 into the cylinder block. Press the front bearing into the cylinder block and secure it with the thrust half ring 1.
