Removal and installation of the connecting rod and piston group (VAZ-1111)

To remove parts of this group, place the car on a lift and disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery. Raise the car, remove the engine mudguards and drain the coolant from the radiator and cylinder block. Drain the oil from the engine oil pan.

Loosen the bolts and remove the front clutch housing cover and the oil pan with the gasket. Lower the car and remove the cylinder head (see section. "Cylinder head"). Loosen the connecting rod cover mounting bolts and remove the piston with the connecting rod from the cylinder block upwards.

Install the connecting rod and piston group in the reverse order of removal. In this case, it is necessary to orient the pistons with the arrow towards the front of the engine. Before installing the cylinder head, turn the crankshaft until the mark on the flywheel aligns with the middle mark on the scale (see figure 67), and the camshaft pulley is turned so that the mark on it is on the left.

After installing all the units, fill the engine with engine oil and coolant. Adjust setting the ignition timing and carburetor drive.
