Checking the axial clearance of the front wheel hub bearings using tool 02.7834.9505
1 - indicator; 2 - bolt; 3 - bracket; 4 - wheel hub
1. To check the clearance, raise the front of the car, support it on a stand and remove the front wheels. Install tool 02.7834 under the wheel bolt. 9505. Rest the indicator leg against the end of the steering knuckle axis at the zero position of the arrow and, moving the hub along the steering knuckle axis, measure the amount of movement (clearance) by indicator.
2. If the gap is more than 0.15mm, adjust it.
3. Loosen the adjusting nut from the steering knuckle.
4. Install a new nut or a used nut on a different vehicle, tighten to 19.6 Nm (2 kgf·m), while turning the hub in both directions two or three times to self-align the bearing rollers.
5. Loosen the adjusting nut and tighten it again to 6.8 Nm (0.7 kgf·m).
6. Make a mark B on the washer, then loosen the nut by 20–25°so that the edge A does not reach mark B a little.
7. Lock the nut in this position by pressing the holes in the neck of the nut into the slots at the end of the knuckle shaft.
8. After adjustment, the clearance in the bearings should be within 0.02–0.08 mm. When adjusting the clearance, it should be taken into account that the thread direction on the left knuckle trunnion is right, on the right trunnion - left.
