- with vertical shock absorber (stem up) perform several full strokes of tension - compression, after which the shock absorber rod should move without dips and jams. Rebound force (stretching) should be greater than when compressed. In this case, there should be no knocks and other noises, as well as fluid leakage. If these defects are found, shock absorbers are repaired or replaced;
- make sure that the rubber bushings of the lower shock absorber eyes are in good condition; if necessary, replace them using tool 67.7823.9539 (mandrel ∅ 28 mm and taper bush);
- check the condition of the rubber cushions 6 (see fig. 99) rod fastening; replace them if they are destroyed or damaged;
- check the condition of the compression stroke buffer and the protective cover of the rod. If the shroud is damaged and does not protect the stem from direct ingress of dirt, it must be replaced. The compression stroke buffer is replaced when it is destroyed or damaged.
A more accurate check of the state and performance of the shock absorber is carried out on a dyno, as indicated in Sec. 3 (sec. «Checking the telescopic strut and shock absorber of the rear suspension on the stand»).
