Adjusting the parking brake (VAZ-2109)

If the parking brake does not hold the vehicle on a 25% slope when the lever is moved 4-5 teeth of the ratchet device, adjust it in the following order:

• raise the parking brake lever by 1-2 sector teeth;
• loosen lock nut 9 (see figure 84) tensioner and, tightening the adjusting nut 8, tighten the cable;
• check the full travel of the parking brake lever, which should be 4-5 teeth per sector, then tighten the lock nut.

After performing several braking operations, check whether the lever stroke has changed. When the lever is in the lower position, the wheels should rotate freely, without sticking.
