The electric fan enhances the air flow through the radiator, and hence its heat transfer. The electric fan consists of an electric motor 3 (see fig. 33) and impellers 5 (motor arrangement, see section «electrical equipment»).
The four-blade impeller is made of plastic. The blades have a variable installation angle along the radius, and to reduce noise - a variable pitch along the hub. The impeller is placed on the motor shaft 3 and pressed with a nut. To improve efficiency, the electric fan is surrounded by casing 4, which is mounted on the radiator brackets at four points.
The electric fan assembly is mounted on three rubber bushings and fastened with nuts on the casing studs 4. It is turned on and off depending on the temperature of the coolant by the TM-108 sensor 2, screwed into the radiator tank 1 on the right side. Sensor contact closure temperature (99±3) °С, opening (94±4) °C.
