The electric fan increases the air flow through the radiator and, consequently, its heat transfer. The electric fan consists of an electric motor 3 (see figure 33) and impeller 5 (for the design of the electric motor, see the section "Electrical equipment").
The four-blade impeller is made of plastic. The blades have a variable angle of installation along the radius, and to reduce noise - a variable pitch along the hub. The impeller is placed on the shaft of the electric motor 3 and pressed with a nut. To increase efficiency, the electric fan is surrounded by a casing 4, which is attached to the radiator brackets at four points.
The electric fan assembly is mounted on three rubber bushings and secured with nuts on the studs of the casing 4. It is switched on and off depending on the temperature of the coolant by sensor 2 of the TM-108 type, screwed into the radiator tank 1 on the right side. The temperature of the sensor contacts closing (99±3)°C, opening (94±4)°C.
