Removal from vehicle
To remove the radiator from the vehicle:
- remove the spare wheel and remove the spare wheel support tube;
- drain the fluid from the radiator and cylinder block by removing the drain plugs in the lower radiator tank and on the cylinder block; at the same time, open the body heater valve, and remove the radiator cap from the filler neck;
Warning. In order not to damage the radiator, when unscrewing the drain plug of the lower tank, hold the plug fitting soldered into the radiator with the second wrench. Unscrew the cork with a socket or spanner wrench so as not to damage the edges of the cork.
- disconnect the hoses from the radiator;
- - remove the fan casing, having previously separated the halves of the casing;
- unscrew the bolts securing the radiator to the body and remove the radiator from the engine compartment.
Leak test
The tightness of the radiator is checked in a bath of water. Having muffled the radiator pipes, bring air to it at a pressure of 0.1 MPa (1 kgf/cm2) and soak in a bath of water for at least 30 seconds. In this case, air etching should not be observed.
Solder minor damage with soft solder, and in case of significant damage, replace the heatsink with a new one.
