Removing the radiator
Open the heater cock, remove the cap from the filler neck of the expansion tank and drain the fluid from the radiator and cylinder block by removing the drain plugs in the lower radiator tank and cylinder block. Remove the radiator cap. In order not to damage the radiator, unscrew the drain plug using two wrenches. Loosen the clamps and disconnect the hoses from the radiator. Remove the radiator shroud by removing the mounting bolts. Loosen the bolts securing the radiator to the body and remove it.
Leak test
The reasons for frequent topping up of coolant may be:
- improper operation of the radiator cap valves. It is necessary to check the opening pressure of the exhaust valve, which should be (0,5±0,05) kgf/cm2;
- insufficient tightness of the gasket of the radiator cap. In this case, the plug must be replaced;
- leak in the radiator. Check the radiator for leaks by plugging the radiator pipes and immersing it in water. Compressed air is supplied at a pressure of 1 kgf / cm2. You can check the tightness of the radiator without removing it from the car. To do this, with plugged pipes, the radiator is filled with water at a pressure of 1 kgf / cm2. The detected small leak is eliminated by soldering with soft solder. In case of significant damage, plug the pipes.
It is allowed to drown out (required on both sides) no more than 1.5% of the number of cooling tubes.
