The main dimensions of the connecting rod and piston group are given in Fig. 2-25. Since 1988, the piston diameters of the 2121 engine have been increased by 0.01 mm.

Pressing out the piston pin
The pin must be removed using a press, using the A.60308 mandrel and a support with a cylindrical recess into which the piston is placed. Before pressing out the pin, remove the piston rings.
If the removed parts are slightly worn and not damaged, they can be used again. Therefore, when disassembling, mark them so that later you can assemble a group with the same parts.
Cleaning
Remove any carbon deposits that have formed on the piston crown and in the piston ring grooves, and remove all deposits from the piston and connecting rod oil passages.
Carefully check the parts for damage. Cracks of any kind on the piston, piston rings, pin, connecting rod and cover are unacceptable and require replacement of the parts. If there are deep scratches on the working surface of the liners, or they are too worn, replace the liners with new ones.
