Headlights
On cars 2101 and 2102, as well as on 21011 production before 1980, the headlights are switched on by switch 34 (see fig. 150), located on the steering column, when the switch 32 outdoor lighting.
On cars manufactured in 21011 from 1980 and 21013, the headlights are switched on by the same switches, but through auxiliary relays 18 and 18a (see fig. 151).
On cars 2101, 2102 and 21021, two identical headlights of the FG140 type are installed, and on cars 21011 and 21013 - two headlights FG140B. They differ in that the FG140B headlight has a side light lamp, while the FG 140 headlight does not have such a lamp.
The headlight reflector together with the glass diffuser and the double-filament lamp form the so-called optical element. The system of lenses and prisms on the inside of the diffuser and the design of the lamp provide a narrow elliptical high-beam beam and a low-beam beam limited from above, which does not dazzle oncoming drivers.
The optical element is fixed in the headlight housing with two screws and a spring. By turning the screws, you can change the position of the optical element and thereby adjust the direction of the headlight beam.
Some cars can be equipped with special headlights with halogen lamps, which provide a greater brightness of the beam of light. Halogen lamps heat up to high temperatures, so the mirror coating of the reflector of such headlights is made of heat-resistant materials. It is not allowed to insert halogen lamps into conventional headlights, as this will damage the mirror coating of the reflector.
When replacing halogen lamps, do not touch the bulb with your fingers, as invisible grease stains remaining on it will reduce the life of the lamps. It is recommended to use cotton gloves or a napkin. If there is any doubt about the purity of the flask, it should be wiped with alcohol.
Outdoor Lighting
The scheme for switching on the external lighting of cars 2101 can be found at rice. 150. On cars 21011 and 21013, the circuit differs only in that the front side light lamps are not in the sidelights (like on 2101), but in the headlights. On cars 2102 and 21021, the features of the circuit are that there is only one lamp in the license plate light instead of two, as on other cars.
On all vehicles, the exterior lighting is switched on by a switch located on the instrument panel - when the key in the ignition switch is turned to the position "Ignition" or "Parking".
Direction indicators
You can familiarize yourself with the diagram for turning on the direction indicators according to the electrical equipment diagram of the car 2101 (see fig. 150). Pointers are switched on by switch 33 located on the steering column. The flashing of the lamps is provided by the relay-breaker 24 PC491, installed behind the instrument cluster.
The operation of the direction indicators is controlled by lamp 48 located in the instrument cluster. This lamp flashes in time with the direction indicator lamps. If the front or rear turn signal lamp burns out, the indicator lamp will not turn on, and the blinking frequency of the turn signal lamps will decrease.
