Built-in diagnostic system (VAZ-2108)

The cars are equipped with a built-in diagnostics system designed to monitor the technical condition of the car using a motor tester. This system includes a sensor 17 (see figure 123) TDC of the piston of the 1st cylinder of the engine and the 26 diagnostic block, to which the following check points of the electrical system are connected: "plus" of the storage battery, terminal "30" of the generator, the body (ground) of the car, low voltage terminals of the ignition coil and the TDC sensor

Using a mounted high-voltage sensor and a motor tester, the diagnostic system allows you to determine the decrease in compression in the engine cylinders, the charge level and condition of the battery, the serviceability of the generator, starter and ignition system.
