Note. In the absence of special bolts, it is possible to fix the new ignition lock with M6 threaded bolts 20 mm long, however, the anti-theft security of the car will be significantly reduced.
Removing
1. Remove the decorative lining of the steering column.
2. Remove the steering column switches.
3. Disconnect the ignition switch harness connectors.
4. Having rested the chisel blade on the edge of the head of one of the bolts, with light blows of the hammer on the chisel, loosen the bolt tightening.
Note. The chisel should not cut the head of the bolt, but only turn the bolt counterclockwise to loosen it.
5. Using pliers with narrow jaws, we unscrew the bolt.
6. Similarly, unscrew the three remaining ignition bolts.
Note. When unscrewing the last bolt, hold the ignition switch.
7. Remove the ignition lock bracket...
...and the ignition lock itself from the steering column.
8. A defective ignition switch should be replaced.
Installation
1. Before installing the ignition lock on the car, insert the key into it and turn it to position I («included»), so that the latch of the steering lock mechanism is pushed into the ignition lock housing.
2. We install the lock with the mounting bracket on the steering column and hand-tighten the new mounting bolts.
3. Having removed the key from the lock, we check the operation of the steering shaft lock mechanism. If the steering shaft does not lock after a full turn of the steering wheel, then adjust the position of the ignition switch on the steering column so that the latch can fit into the groove on the steering shaft.
4. After making sure that the locking mechanism works, use a 10 mm ring wrench evenly (crosswise, half turn) tighten the ignition lock bolts until their heads come off.
5. We carry out further work on installing the ignition switch in the reverse order of removal.
