- make an external inspection of the car, bypass it from all sides;
- lift the hood and visually make sure that there is: coolant in the expansion tank, fluid in the washer reservoir, brake fluid in the master brake cylinder reservoir (it should always be on the same level), the electrolyte level in the battery and the oil level on the measuring line in the engine crankcase and gearbox. Add these fluids if necessary;
- on a car with a carburetor engine, after a long stay, it is necessary to pump fuel into the carburetor float chamber using the manual priming lever on the fuel pump;
- check the tire pressure with a tire pressure gauge at least once a week, practice itself will tell you how often this needs to be done.
A 10% over-inflated tire reduces life by 10%, and a 10% under-inflated tire reduces life by 20%. Tire pressure rate 175 / 70R13 - 1.9 kg / cm2, and in tires 175 / 65R14 - 1.8 kg / cm2, The pressure is the same on the front and rear wheels. The residual depth of the tire tread pattern for a passenger car must be at least 1.6 mm;
- make sure that the lighting and signaling devices are in good condition by turning them on with the engine off, the ignition on and the central light switch on.
Particular attention should be paid to the presence of brake lights, direction indicators and reversing signals;
- check the completeness of the car, be sure to have a first aid kit, a fire extinguisher, an emergency stop sign, a spare wheel, a jack, a pump (better electric), hammer, pressure gauge, screwdriver, mount and several different keys; when opening the cab doors, make sure that it does not touch objects and does not interfere with anyone, and when you get into the car, you need to close it.
The door of your car should always be kept closed, and if there is a need to start moving with the door open, then you need to be very careful;
- make sure that the brakes are in full working order by pressing the brake pedal;
- at the beginning of the movement, check the serviceability of the steering by turning the steering wheel to the left and right - the steering wheel should rotate easily and there should be no additional knocks and pushes in the hands.
