An assistant is needed to complete the work, and you will also need:
- reliable support under the car;
- pliers for removing retaining rings;
- a set of tools for replacing the wheel bearing.
Removing
Warning! Press out the wheel bearing only if it is replaced, as it is likely to be destroyed during dismantling.
1. We prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. Remove the decorative wheel cap (see "Tires - pressure check").
3. Using a slotted screwdriver, remove the hub cap.
4. We place wheel chocks under the front wheels of the car.
5. Tapping on the center punch with a hammer, we bend the edge of the nut jammed into the grooves of the drive shaft - in two places (see "Rear wheel hub bearing - replacement").
6. Have an assistant depress the brake pedal and hold it down.
7. socket wrench by 30 mm with a long collar, loosen the front wheel hub nut.
8. Remove the front wheel (see "Wheel - replacement") and loosen the hub nut.
9. Remove the brake caliper without disconnecting the brake hose from it (see "Front brake caliper - removal and installation").
10. Remove the brake disc (see "Brake disc - removal and installation").
11. We turn off two bolts of fastening of a spherical support to a rotary fist (see "Rack ball joint - removal and installation").
12. Turn off a few turns of the nuts securing the upper support of the rack to the body (see "Front suspension strut - removal and installation").
13. Having pressed the lower suspension arm down, we take the lower end of the rack to the side and remove the splined tip of the outer CV joint from the hub (see "Front wheel drive - removal and installation").
Warning! The force of the power bolt must be applied to the end surface of the hub, and not to the bearing ring
14. Having rested the paws of the puller on the steering knuckle and turning the bolt nut, we press the hub out of the steering knuckle.
15. Use pliers to remove the outer retaining ring of the hub bearing.
16. On the reverse side of the steering knuckle, use pliers to remove the inner retaining ring of the hub bearing.
17. We install the fixture and press the bearing out of the steering knuckle.
18. If the inner ring of the bearing remains on the hub, press it with a puller from the kit or a universal two-jaw puller (there are special recesses on the hub for installing the puller paws).
Installation
1. Thoroughly clean the mounting hole for the bearing in the steering knuckle from dirt and corrosion.
2. Install the outer circlip of the bearing.
Warning! The force of the power bolt when pressing the bearing should be applied only to its outer ring
3. We press the new bearing into the steering knuckle until it stops against the outer circlip.
4. Install the inner circlip of the bearing.
Warning! When pressing the hub, the power bolt must rest only on the inner ring of the bearing.
5. Using a tool, we press the hub into the inner ring of the bearing.
6. We insert the drive shaft into the splined hole of the hub.
7. We put a thrust washer on the shaft and wrap a new hub nut.
8. Install all removed parts in reverse order.
9. Install the wheel (see "Wheel - replacement") and lower the car. We fix the wheel with wheel chocks, and the assistant presses the brake pedal.
10. Tighten the hub bearing nut to a torque of 225.6-247.2 N·m (23-25.2 kgf·m).
11. We jam the edge of the nut into the grooves of the drive shaft (in two places) and install the hub cap.
