Note: The operation is shown using the example of engine 21124. On other engines, the work is performed similarly.
Sequence of execution
1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. Remove the camshaft toothed pulley (see "Camshaft pulleys - removal and installation").
3. If the key was not removed after removing the pulley, remove it from its seat.
Warning: When performing the following operation, be careful not to scratch the running surface of the camshaft.
4. Using thin curved pliers, pry the oil seal out of its seat.
5. Apply clean engine oil to the working edge of the new oil seal and press it in with a plastic-head hammer so that the outer edge of the oil seal is flush with the edge of its seat.
Recommendation: It is better to press in the seal using a special mandrel or socket head by 30 mm.
6. Install all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
