Noise in gearbox
Cause of malfunction | Elimination Method |
1. Bearing noise. | 1. Replace defective bearings. |
2. Wear of gear teeth and synchronizers. | 2. Replace worn parts. |
3. Insufficient oil level in the gearbox. | 3. Add oil. If necessary, eliminate the causes of oil leakage. |
4. Axial movement of shafts. | 4, Replace the parts fixing the bearings or the bearings themselves. |
Difficulty shifting gears
Cause of malfunction | Elimination Method |
1. Incomplete clutch disengagement. | 1. See subsection «Clutch». |
2. Sticking of the spherical joint of the gear lever. | 2. Clean mating surfaces of the spherical joint. |
3. Deformation of the gear lever. | 3. Correct the deformation or replace the lever with a new one. |
4. Stiff movement of fork stems (burrs, contamination of the stem seats, jamming of the blocking crackers). | 4. Repair or replace worn parts. |
5. Stiff movement of the sliding sleeve on the hub when the splines are dirty. | 5. Clean the parts. |
6. Deformation of shift forks. | 6. Straighten the forks, replace if necessary. |
Spontaneous disengagement or fuzzy engagement of gears
Cause of malfunction | Elimination Method |
1. Wear of balls and sockets of rods, loss of elasticity of clamps. | 1. Replace damaged parts. |
2. Wear of the blocking rings of the synchronizer. | 2. Replace the blocking rings. |
3. Breakage of the synchronizer spring. | 3. Replace spring. |
4. Wear of the teeth of the synchronizer clutch or the ring gear of the synchronizer. | 4. Replace clutch or gear. |
5. Crushing of the short teeth of the hub. | 5. Replace the synchronizer hub. |
Oil leak
Cause of malfunction | Elimination Method |
1. Wear on the seals of the primary and secondary shafts. | 1. Replace oil seals. |
2. Loose fastening of gearbox covers, damage to gaskets. | 2. Tighten nuts (the moment is indicated in the application) or replace seals. |
3. Loose fastening of the clutch housing to the gearbox housing. | 3. Tighten the nuts. |
