Fuel filter 2 (see figure 53) are washed in gasoline and blown with compressed air. Check the condition of the filter. If the filter or fuel supply pipe 1 are damaged, replace them with new ones.
Wash the float mechanism parts in gasoline and check their condition. The float must not have any damage. The sealing surface of the needle valve 15 and its seat must not have any damage that would compromise the valve's tightness. The valve must move freely in its seat, and the ball must not hang. Replace faulty parts with new ones.
Clean the carburetor cover 3 and all holes and channels from oil and dirt. Wash the cover in acetone or gasoline and blow it with compressed air. Inspect the sealing surfaces of the cover. If there is damage, replace the cover with a new one. All parts of the starting device are cleaned and washed with gasoline, blown with compressed air. Inspect the parts, replace damaged ones with new ones.
Clean the jets and emulsion tubes from dirt and resinous compounds, wash with acetone or gasoline and blow with compressed air. Do not clean the jets with a metal tool or wire, or wipe the jets and other parts of the carburetor with cotton wool, cloth or rags, as the lint can clog the fuel and emulsion channels. If the clogging is severe, you can clean the jets with a soft wood needle soaked in acetone.
Clean the carburetor body from oil and dirt. Wash its channels with acetone or gasoline and blow with compressed air. If necessary, clean the channels and emulsion tubes with special reamers. Inspect the sealing surfaces of the body. If they are damaged or deformed, replace the body with a new one.
Clean the parts of the accelerator pump, wash with gasoline, blow with compressed air. Check the ease of movement of the valves and the movement of the moving elements of the pump (lever, diaphragm parts). No jamming is allowed. The diaphragm must be intact, without damage. The condition of the sealing surfaces and gaskets is checked. Damaged pump parts are replaced with new ones.
