Removal and installation
Disconnect the flexible hoses from the master cylinder and close the openings of the hoses and fittings on the cylinder to prevent leakage of fluid from the reservoir and entry of dust and dirt into the cylinder.
Pipelines are disconnected from the master cylinder, which drain fluid to the wheel cylinders of the brake mechanisms of the front and rear wheels, and the cylinder is removed.
Install the master cylinder in reverse order. After installing the cylinder, the hydraulic brake system is bled to remove air from it.
Disassembly and assembly
Remove fittings with gaskets (if necessary) and a protective cap, unscrew the set screws 6 and remove all parts from the cylinder.
Assemble the cylinder in the reverse order, while lubricating the parts with brake fluid.
Checking details
Before assembly, all parts are washed with isopropyl alcohol or brake fluid, dried with compressed air and wiped with a cloth, avoiding contact with mineral oils, kerosene or diesel fuel, which cause swelling of the sealing rings. Washing time of sealing rings in isopropyl alcohol is not more than 20 s, followed by blowing with compressed air.
The cylinder mirror and the working surface of the pistons must be completely clean, free of rust, scratches and other defects.
When disassembling the cylinder, replace the O-rings with new ones, even if they appear to be in good condition. Check the condition of the protective cap and, if damaged, replace it.
Check the elasticity of the piston spring. In this case, the length of the spring in the free state should be 57.5 mm, under a load of 3.5-4.2 kgf - 36 mm and under a load of 6.35-7.35 kgf - 21 mm.
