Removal and disassembling the rear wheel brake mechanisms (VAZ-2105)

Raise the rear of the vehicle and remove the wheel. Take measures to prevent fluid leakage from the reservoir. Remove the brake drum by unscrewing the mounting bolts and installing them in the technological holes of the drum. Evenly and without much force, tighten the mounting bolts until the drum separates. If the drum cannot be removed in this way, then in extreme cases the following method is allowed. After unscrewing the guide pins from the drum, lubricate the seat on the axle shaft with motor oil or Unisma in an aerosol package. Start the engine, engage 1st gear and press the brake pedal. In this case, it is necessary to be especially careful, since the drum when separated can cause injury to people standing nearby.

Disconnect from lever 7 (see fig. 203) end of cable 4, pressing on pin 9, and remove the lever. Then disconnect the upper and lower tension springs. Turning the cups of support posts 6, remove them together with the posts, springs and lower cups, remove shoes 5 and 2 and spacer bar of shoes 8. Disconnect the pipeline from wheel cylinder 10 and plug the holes of the cylinder and pipeline. Remove the wheel cylinder. If it is necessary to replace the shield 12 of the brake, then remove the half shaft, as indicated in section "Rear axle", and disconnect the rear cable 4 by unscrewing the two bolts securing it to the brake shield.
