Pic. 136. Starter details: 1 - retaining ring; 2 - restrictive ring; 3 - drive with freewheel; 4 - axis of the lever; 5 - front cover; 6 - drive lever; 7 - relay armature; 8 - traction relay; 9 - back cover; 10 - lock washer; 11 - protective cover; 12 - coupling bolt; 13 - brush spring; 14 - brush 15 - body; 16 - adjusting washers; 17 - anchor
The screws are unscrewed and the protective cover 11 is removed. The lock washer 10 is removed, the coupling bolts 12 are unscrewed and the housing 15 with the back cover 9 is disconnected from the front cover 5 with the armature 17. The screws fastening the stator winding leads to the brush holders are unscrewed and the housing is disconnected from the rear cover. Remove springs 13 and brushes 14.
Remove the retaining 1 and restrictive 2 rings and disconnect the anchor from the drive 3. Unpin and remove the axle 4 of the lever from the front cover. Disconnect the lever 6 from the drive and remove the drive 3 from the front cover. The drive is disassembled after removing the lock washer from the coupling hub.
To disassemble the traction relay, unscrew the screws securing its cover and solder the winding leads from the plug «50» and from the tip fixed on the lower contact bolt of the traction relay.
After disassembly, the parts are blown with compressed air and wiped.
Before assembly, lubricate the screw splines of the armature shaft and freewheel hubs, gear and rear cover bushing with engine oil. The driving ring of the drive is lubricated with Litol-24 grease.
Starter assembly is carried out in the reverse order of disassembly. The selection of shims 16 provides axial free play of the armature in the range of 0.07-0.70 mm. An insulating plastic tube is put on the coupling bolt passing near the stator winding terminals.
After assembly, the starter is checked on the stand.
