Techniques and methods for economical driving (VAZ-2110)

            0

Automobile transport requires almost 60% of the gasoline and 35% of diesel fuel produced in the country. Therefore, the issue of fuel economy in automobile transport is acute. The high cost of gasoline also plays an important role in modern conditions. Its economical use will improve the financial situation of the car owner.

There are many ways to reduce fuel consumption: improving roads, creating fuel-efficient engines. This is a problem for scientists and the government. A great effect is achieved by improving the driving culture, which depends on each driver and the organization of traffic, and in the latter issue the driver plays an important role.

According to a number of studies, experienced drivers who have been driving for more than 15 years consume 17% less fuel than a novice. First of all, by driving calmly. If you keep to the general rhythm of the traffic flow, if you do not accelerate quickly and do not brake sharply, then you will consume much less fuel. All drivers need to learn this.

You can constantly see how another driver, trying to win some seconds, turns the ride into a nervous strain for himself and other drivers. This driving style is one of the examples of driver illiteracy.

So, the most economical way is to move at a constant speed, without unnecessary acceleration and deceleration.

The more risky your driving, the more you pay for the operation of your car.

Try to maintain an economical speed that ensures proper engine operation and low fuel consumption. Fuel and oil consumption increases with increasing speed.

Low speed cannot be considered economical, as it also increases fuel and oil consumption. The most economical is considered to be the engine operation at its maximum torque, which corresponds to 2/3 of the maximum speed. Therefore, for most cars, a speed of 80-90 km/h is the most economical.

You need to learn how to shift gears correctly, use the inertia of your car more often, and choose the movement with the maximum torque. It is different for different gears. Shift gears at the right moment to move as often as possible in higher and, especially, direct gears.

Coast to your intended stopping points with minimal use of brakes.

Avoid excess oil in the fuel and do not exceed the oil level in the crankcase - this is:
  • increases fuel and oil consumption;
  • reduces engine power;
  • leads to rapid carbon deposits;
  • oily spark plugs do not work properly or fail;
  • the neutralizer fails.

Do not exceed the fuel level in the tank and do not keep it almost empty. In both cases, its consumption increases.

Avoid driving on uneven roads and in adverse weather conditions. The least amount of fuel is consumed when driving on a level road with a hard, dry surface. When driving on roads with a poor surface, rolling resistance increases, as a result of which fuel consumption increases (up to 20%).

Do not load or overload your vehicle unnecessarily. The main operating parameters that characterize the engine are the maximum speed and the permissible load capacity of the vehicle. The permissible load capacity of a passenger car is determined by the number of passengers and the weight of the luggage. If the vehicle carries a load greater than its permissible load, the engine operates at full power, as a result of which fuel consumption increases by up to 25%.

You should not carry unnecessary luggage in your car; even an empty trunk that is not removed from the car increases fuel consumption by up to 5%.

Take care of your car so that it is not too "gluttonous", do not allow leaks in fuel lines, fuel tank, fuel system. Contamination of the fuel system, overheating of the engine lead to the formation of vapor-air locks in the fuel lines. Periodically clean the carburetor, fuel tank and injectors. You will see so much dirt in them that you will be surprised: where does it come from?

Contamination of the air filter, carbon deposits on the walls of combustion chambers and cylinders create additional difficulties for normal engine operation. The resistance to movement increases due to low air pressure in the tires. The load of the entire car goes to the edges of the tires, the car cannot reach maximum speed. Fuel consumption increases.

The driver must always remember: proper control contributes not only to increased safety, but also to economical driving.
