Comment. The work is shown on a car with engine 21124. Features of replacing spark plugs on a car with engine 2112 are indicated in the text.
We replace spark plugs according to the manufacturer's recommendation every 30,000 km of run or when they fail, if the engine begins to work unstably.
To complete the work you will need: a special socket wrench for spark plugs by 16 mm with extension. A rubber sleeve must be installed in the head of the key that holds the candle.
Execution sequence
1. By car with engine 21124 remove the ignition coil of the first cylinder (see "Engine ignition coils 21124 (1,6i 16v) - check and replacement"). On a car with a 2112 engine remove high voltage wires from spark plugs (see "High voltage motor wires 2112 (1,5i 16v) - check and replacement").
2. socket wrench for spark plugs by 16 mm unscrew the candle and remove it from the socket.
3. We take out the candle from the key head.
4. Before installing the spark plug with a set of round probes, we check the gap between its electrodes. The gap should be 1.0-1.1 mm.
Warning! When checking the gap with flat feeler gauges, the measurement results will be incorrect.
5. We adjust the gap by bending the side electrode.
Warning! To avoid damage to the threads in the cylinder head, the spark plug should first be wrapped by hand and then tightened by inserting the wrench into the wrench extension. The moment of an inhaling of a candle is 30-40 Nm.
We insert the candle into the key head and wrap it in the cylinder head.
Similarly, we replace the candles of the remaining cylinders.
