Warning! Before performing work, read the precautions for repairing the engine management system (see "Precautions when repairing the engine management system").
To complete the work you will need:
- multimeter (in voltmeter and ohmmeter mode);
- wire (1.5-2 m);
- insulating tape.
Sequence of execution
1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair"), turn off the ignition.
2. On engines 2112, 21124 and 21114 remove the decorative trim (see "Engine trim - removal and installation").
3. Disconnect the pads (1) and (2) of the injector wiring harness on the 8-valve engine.

Note: On a 16-valve engine, the operation is as follows:

4. After turning on the ignition, use a voltmeter to measure the voltage at the power terminal E of the connector (2) of the wiring harness, which should be no less than 12 V (the terminals are marked with letters on the connector, the "minus" probe of the device should be connected to the engine "ground").
Warning! After completing the voltage measurement, turn off the ignition.
Note: If the voltage does not reach the connector or is less than 12 V, the battery is discharged, the power supply circuit is faulty, or the ECU is faulty.
5. Check the electrical resistance of the injectors, for which we use an ohmmeter to measure the resistance between terminal E and the other four terminals of the block (2) one by one. The terminal of the block marked with the letter B corresponds to the injector of the first cylinder, and terminals C, G and F correspond to the injectors of the second, third and fourth cylinders, respectively. The resistance of serviceable injectors should be approximately 13 Ohms.

5. Using two wires directly from the battery, apply 12 V to the terminals of the connector (2) - terminal E is connected to the positive terminal of the battery, and terminals B, C, G and F are connected in series with the negative terminal of the battery. A serviceable injector should produce a characteristic click when the valve opens.
6. Replace faulty injectors (see "Fuel rail engine 2112 (1.5i 16v) - removal, disassembly, assembly and installation", or "Fuel rail engine 2111 (1.5i 8v) - removal, disassembly, assembly and installation", or "Fuel rail engine 21124 (1.6i 16V) - removal, disassembly and installation", or "Fuel rail engine 21114 (1.6i 8V) - removal, disassembly and installation").
