Recommendations
The manufacturer recommends that when replacing the pads, replace the grease in the hub bearings (see subsection 3.36.).
If the brake fluid level in the reservoir is at the mark "MAX" or approaches it, pump some of the fluid out of the tank.
The minimum allowable thickness of the friction linings of the pads is 1.5 mm.
Check the condition of the brake pads every time the brake drum is removed.
Replace pads in the following cases:
- lining thickness less than 1.5 mm;
- the surface of the pads is oiled;
- pads are loosely connected to the base;
- linings have deep grooves and chips.
Attention! Do not use gasoline, diesel fuel or any other mineral solvents to clean the brakes.
Attention! The pads must be replaced in the brake mechanisms of both rear wheels at the same time.
Attention! To replace the pads, we recommend contacting specialists, since the rear wheel hub is made integral with the drum and you will have to replace the grease in the hub bearings and adjust the clearances in them.
1. Clean the brake drum and wheel hub guard from dirt.
2. Turning the drum, carefully knock off the protective cap of the hub and...
3....take it out.
4. Unbend the cotter pin and remove it from the hole in the hub axle.
5. Loosen the hub nut.
6. Remove the thrust washer.
7. Take out the front (outer) hub bearing. To do this, slightly move the drum towards you, and then move it into place.
8. If it is difficult to remove the drum, bring the shoes together by turning the adjusting nut of the expander bar, and knock the drum down with a rubber mallet.
9. Remove the brake drum.
10. Use a screwdriver to remove the top return spring.
11. Remove the lower return spring in the same way.
12. Compressing leaf springs...
13.... turn the racks of both pads and remove the springs.
14. Remove the front block and spacer bar.
15. Remove the rear shoe by disconnecting the parking brake cable end from the hand brake shoe lever.
16. Turn away a nut of an axis of the lever of the manual drive of pads.
17. Please note: there is a spring washer under the nut.
18. Remove the spring hook.
19. Remove the hand drive lever from the block.
20. Remove the axle from the lever.
21. Install the hand drive lever on the new rear shoe in the reverse order of removal.
22. Remove the pad stop with the nut retainer from the expansion bar.
23. Unscrew the adjusting nut of the shoe expander by half the length of its threaded part to increase the length of the bar. This is necessary for ease of assembly, since the short bar will fall out of the slot of the blocks.
24. Lubricate the threaded part of the expansion bar with Litol-24 grease.
25. Install the pads in the reverse order of removal. When installing the spacer bar, make sure that the flat side of the bar is pointing down.
26. Use a file to remove the worn shoulder from the brake drum.
27. Lubricate the pin with Litol-24 grease.
28. When screwing the adjusting nut onto the expansion bar, bring the shoes together so that they do not interfere with the installation of the brake drum. Install the brake drum and adjust the clearance in the wheel bearing (see subsection 3.35.).
29. Adjust clearances between brake pads and drum (see subsection 3.34.). Install the wheel, check the operation of the parking brake and adjust it if necessary (see subsection 3.37.).
