Crankcase and covers
There should be no cracks on the crankcase, and on the surface of the bores for wear bearings (see table. 8) or damage. The mating surfaces with the clutch housing and covers must not be damaged that could cause axles to diverge and insufficient tightness causing oil leakage. Minor damage can be eliminated with a file. If the parts are damaged or their wear exceeds the allowable value specified in tab. 8, they are replaced with new ones.
Check the condition of the front cover, and also whether the drive shaft touches it during rotation. If the shaft and cover are misaligned, replace the damaged parts. Check if the drain hole of the front cover is clogged and clean the drain plug of the gearbox.
Oil seals
On the working edges they should not have damage and irregularities, the permissible wear of the working edge in width is not more than 1 mm. Even with minor damage, they are replaced with new ones.
Shafts
On the working surfaces and on the splines of the driven shaft, damage and excessive wear are not allowed (see table. 8); the flange of the flexible coupling must slide freely on the splines, without jamming. There should be no visible irregularities on the rolling surfaces of the needles at the front end of the driven shaft and in the holes of the drive shaft. The countershaft must not have chipping or excessive wear on the teeth. The surface of the reverse gear shaft must be smooth and free from galling. Slight irregularities on the surfaces are eliminated with a set of sanding papers with a grain size from 10 to M40. In case of large damages and deformations, replace the shaft with a new one.
Gears
On the gears, damage and wear of the teeth is not allowed, exceeding the values of the permissible lateral clearance in the gearing indicated in Table. 8. Particular attention is paid to the condition of the ends of the teeth on the synchronizer rims. The contact patch between the teeth of the gears in engagement should extend to the entire working surface, which should be smooth, with no visible signs of wear. In addition, the indicator checks the gap in the engagement between the gears (see table. 8).
Bearings
Must be in immaculate condition. Their radial clearance should not exceed 0.05 mm. When checking, press the inner ring against the outer ring with your fingers and turn one of them in both directions. In this case, the rolling should be smooth. On the surface of the balls (rollers) and treadmills of the rings are not allowed to be damaged. Damaged bearings are replaced with new ones.
Rods and forks
Deformation of the shift forks is not allowed. The rods should slide freely without significant play in the crankcase bores. Check the condition of the locking crackers of the rods, springs and retainer balls. Parts that show signs of seizing or wear are replaced with new ones.
Hubs, couplings and synchronizer rings
Check for signs of seizing on the hubs of the gear shifting clutches, especially on the sliding surfaces of the clutches. Particular attention is paid to the condition of the ends of the coupling teeth.
Excessive wear of the surface of the blocking rings is not allowed when they abut against the synchronizer sleeve. Faults that prevent free sliding are eliminated with a velvet file. Worn parts are replaced with new ones.
