VAZ-21021 car
On the VAZ-21021 car, the engine 21011 was installed instead of 2101. Therefore, the features in the repair of the engine of this car are the same as those of the VAZ-21011, set out in subsection 13.1.2.1.
Car VAZ-21023
On the VAZ-21023 car, the 2103 engine was used with an increased cylinder capacity and power (see subsection 1.4). Therefore, the VAZ-21023 car has the best speed and dynamic performance.
The 2103 engine differs from the 2101 engine in an increased cylinder block height and a crankshaft crank radius increased by 7 mm. Due to the greater height of the cylinder block, the length of the camshaft drive chain has been increased, the tensioner shoe and the chain damper have been changed.
The cylinder block of the 2103 engine is easily identified by the model number molded on the left side of the cylinder block. The crankshaft of the 2103 engine has a marking on one of the cheeks of the middle main journal «2103».
The 2103 engine chain has 116 links, i.e. even number (58) internal and external links. The chain of engines 2101 and 21011 has 114 links, i.e. she has an odd number (57) internal and external links. It is easy to check whether the number of outer links is even or odd by adding together both branches of the chain.
The length of the new chain for 2103 engines is 495.4–495.8 mm. The chain is replaced if it is extended to 499.5 mm (see subsection 3.12.7).
To distinguish the shoes of the chain tensioners, there is a mark in the form of a cylindrical recess on the end surface of the bracket welded to the shoe. For motor shoes 2101 and 21011, the mark is located at the top of the bracket, and for motor shoes 2103, at the bottom.
To distinguish the chain guides of the 2103 engines, they have a vertical protruding risk of 25 mm in length on the surface of the rubber lining.
The carburetor 2107-1107010-20 is installed on the 2103 engine, which differs in the following calibration data from the carburetor 2105-1107010-20 of the 2101 and 21011 engines:
- diffuser diameter of the 1st chamber, mm diameter: 22;
- main fuel jet of the 1st chamber, mm: 1.12;
- main fuel jet of the 2nd chamber, mm: 1.50.
Otherwise, the repair of the 2103 engine is similar to the repair of the 2101 engine.
