Mounting and dismounting of tires (VAZ-2109)

In order not to disturb the wheel balance, before removing the bead, make a mark with chalk on the tire opposite the tube valve and install the tire according to this mark during installation. Before starting to remove the tire, prepare the tool: a clamp or jack to separate the tire bead from the rim, a tire iron, a wheel fastening key and a hammer. The tire iron and key should not have burrs or sharp edges. It is recommended to wind insulating tape or put on a rubber bushing tightly at a distance of 10-15 mm from the edge of the iron to protect the rim flange from damage. Place the wheel horizontally, with the valve facing up. Using a jack or clamp, move the tire bead off the rim seat belt. Then, stepping with your feet, lower the tire on one side to the middle of the rim. Turn the wheel 180°, separate the second tire bead from the rim and remove the tube. To facilitate dismounting, it is recommended to wet the rim and tire seating areas with a soap solution.

Before mounting the tire, the inner cavity of the tire and the tube should be wiped with talc so that the tube does not "stick" to the tire, otherwise these areas of the tube will be damaged. Some car enthusiasts, before assembling the tire, rub the places where the tire sides touch the wheel rim with paraffin, which, when heated, fills all the gaps and pores and moisture does not penetrate into the place where the tire contacts the rim. This makes repeated dismantling of the tire easier, since the tire is easily separated from the rim.



After installing the tire, be sure to check the wheel balancing at a service station.
