Note: On the 2112 engine (1.5i) the oxygen concentration sensor is installed on the intake pipe.
To carry out the work, an inspection pit or overpass is required.
Removal
1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. Disconnect the oxygen concentration sensor wiring harness (see "Oxygen Concentration Sensor - Checking and Replacing").
3. With a socket wrench by 13 mm we unscrew the two bolts of the movable hinge and remove the metal-graphite ring (see "Metal-graphite sealing ring - replacement").
4. With a socket wrench by 13 mm unscrew the two nuts (1) securing the exhaust manifold to the bracket and remove the bracket clamping bar.
5. Unscrew the two bolts securing the intake pipe bracket to the cylinder block and remove the bracket (see "Engine intake pipe 2111 (1.5i 8v) - removal and installation").
6. With a socket wrench by 14 mm with an extension, unscrew the six nuts (2) securing the intake pipe to the exhaust manifold (in photo p. 4, three nuts from the cylinder block side are not visible) and remove the exhaust pipe.
7. Remove the intake pipe gasket from the exhaust manifold studs.
8. With an open-end wrench by 22 mm we unscrew the oxygen concentration sensor.
Installation
We install the intake pipe in the reverse order. We replace the intake pipe gasket and mounting nuts with new ones. We also replace the bracket with damaged studs.
Tip: If one or more exhaust manifold studs break when removing the downpipe, remove the manifold (see "Exhaust manifold of engine 2112 (1.5i 16v) - removal and installation, gasket replacement"). Drill out the damaged studs (first with a drill with a diameter of 5, and then with an 8.5 mm drill) and cut the thread M10x1.25. Sometimes it is possible to unscrew the remains of the broken stud with a tap. Screw in the repair studs (M10x1.25x25).
