Direction indicators (left or right) are switched on by the left steering column switch (short lever). Emergency alarm mode (all direction indicators are flashing) is switched on by pressing the corresponding button. Flashing of the lamps is provided by a type 231.3747 flasher relay, fixed on a pin under the instrument panel. If one of the turn signal lamps burns out, the flashing frequency of the remaining lamps and the control lamp doubles. In normal mode, the flashing frequency should be 90±30 cycles per minute under a load of 92 W at an ambient temperature of -40 to 65°C and a voltage of 10.8 to 15 V.
