Car body VAZ-2105 type "sedan", metal, all-welded, load-bearing structure, four-door. Doors with sliding glass. The door hinges are located at the front. Door locks and safety locks. Windows of the rear doors with two glasses. The front and rear windows have panoramic glass. The windshield is three-layer, polished; rear - polished, hardened. All safety glasses. The protruding parts of the body and interior are made safe (handles, levers, sun visors and other parts).
The outer surfaces of the body do not have sharp edges and protrusions. To ensure safety while driving from accidental opening, the hood opens forward in the direction of travel. The exterior and interior rear-view mirrors provide the driver with good visibility: the interior mirror is equipped with a device to prevent the driver from being dazzled by the headlights of the car behind. On all bodies it is possible to install seat belts for all passengers. Welded belt nuts are located on the tailgate, rear pillars, rear wheel arches and on the floor under the carpet. The interior equipment of the cabin does not distract the driver’s attention; there are no shiny details, blinding lamps and glare from control devices in his field of vision; swiveling soft visors above the windshield protect the driver's eyes from blinding sunlight.
Door locks withstand heavy loads and do not allow the doors to open spontaneously when the car hits an obstacle. Adjustable front seat headrests prevent neck injury from a rear-end collision. A comfortable adjustable seat that holds the body during lateral accelerations, good thermal and sound insulation of the body, a highly efficient heating system, and supply and exhaust ventilation of the passenger compartment all this dramatically reduces driver fatigue.
The rigidity of the body is chosen in such a way that when a car is hit by the front or rear part, the impact is smoothly damped due to the deformation of the front and rear parts of the body. The passenger compartment has great rigidity and is not deformed. The bottom of the body and wheel arches are covered from below with D-11 A plastisol 1-1.5 mm thick for corrosion protection and noise insulation. Anti-corrosion protective non-drying lubricant NGM-ML or auto-preservative thresholds of the type "Movil".
The body of the car VAZ-2104 has structurally retained most of the body parts of the VAZ-2105, it differs in the back. Non-interchangeable panels of sidewalls, roof, rear fenders, rear upholstery.
Body frame
All parts and components of the frame are mainly interconnected by resistance spot welding; heavily loaded parts are additionally welded by arc welding. The roof panel 17 is welded by gas welding to the side panels 20.
The body frame consists of the following main components: front end, floor with reinforcements and rear panel, sidewalls, rear fenders, roof with wind and rear window frames, front fenders with reinforcements.
The front end consists of a vertical front panel 11, an air intake box 12, mudguards 42 of the front fenders with front suspension struts, front side members 10, front cross member 9, a radiator frame, and a cladding panel 7. A platform for the battery is welded to the right mudguard of the front wing.
Body floor with amplifiers and rear panel includes front and rear floor panels, luggage compartment floor 36, spare wheel and fuel tank floors, rear panel 22. Front 10 and rear spars of the floor, spars 34 of the luggage compartment floor, connectors of the central pillars, cross members 23, 37, 38, 40, cross bar bracket, internal arches 35 of the rear wheels and other details are welded to the floor panels.
The sidewall 13 consists of a one-piece stamped panel, an outer arch of the rear wheel, a central pillar and amplifiers located along the contour of the sidewall. The right and left sidewalls are interconnected by a cross member 16 of the instrument panel and a rear shelf 21 with braces.
The rear fenders 33 are welded to the sidewalls, tailgate panel 22, to the floor of the spare wheel or fuel tank. Amplifiers are welded to the rear fenders. The right wing has a fuel tank filler cap. The fixed hinge of the cover is attached to the wing with two screws. In the closed and open positions, the lid is fixed by a servo spring attached to the lid hinge.
The roof consists of a panel 17, roof side panels 20 welded together by gas welding, and roof reinforcements. A wind window frame 15 and a rear window frame are welded to the roof panel.
The front fenders 8 are welded to the front panel 7, to the mudguards 42, to the front struts of the sidewalls 13.
Body parts are stamped from mild steel sheet with a thickness of: for exterior panels 0.7 mm, for the front floor and roof 0.9 mm, for mudguards of the front fenders, rear wheel arches, spars and floor cross members 1.0 mm, for heavily loaded parts (front spars, central pillars) 1.5 mm. Various small body parts (amplifiers, connectors, brackets, extensions) stamped from steel 0.8-2.5 mm thick.
Hinged body units
Doors, hood, trunk lid are hung on the welded body. All these units consist of external and internal panels made of 0.7 mm thick steel and interconnected by bending the flanges of the external panels, followed by spot welding. To increase the rigidity of the hood and trunk lid, their outer and inner panels are additionally interconnected with glue, which hardens when the body paintwork dries. The hood is hung along the front edge of the body on hinges. The hood is attached to the hinges with bolts. Enlarged holes in the hinges for bolts allow adjustment of the position of the hood in the opening of the body. The trunk lid has hinges with a torsion mechanism that makes it easier to open and hold the lid in the open position. Enlarged holes in the hinges allow you to adjust the position of the trunk lid.
Door tops (window openings) made of steel profiled frames, which are welded to the inner panels of the doors. Door hinges 30 allow adjustment of the position of the doors in the opening in the vertical plane to ensure uniform clearances with the body along the upper and lower edges. So that the doors do not rest against the front end of the body pillars when opening, they have opening limiters.
Bumpers with front 2 and side 4 overlays are installed on cars. The bumpers are attached to the body using two tubular brackets 5. The brackets are sealed with rubber seals.
Body upholstery
The upholstery and finishing materials of the cabin have a matte surface that does not give glare. The shape and color of the upholstery and details of the car interior meet modern aesthetic requirements.
Upholstery 49 and 52 roof and rear roof side panels in beige. Floor mats 55, upholstery of the front and central pillars 46 and 48, upholstery of the sidewalls of the front end, instrument panels and radio panels, instrument panel shelves and luggage compartment mat 53 have black color. The color of the upholstery of 47 doors, seats and tailgate is selected depending on the color of the car body.
The metal frame of the instrument panel is covered with polyurethane foam and PFM-0.9 film on top. The instrument panel is fixed at the top with four nuts through the receptions of the instrument panel and the glove box and with four screws at the bottom to the body cross member. The radio receiver panel is installed below the instrument panel.
The upholstery 49 of the roof is made of a polyvinyl chloride PVC film with a 3 mm thick foam padding duplicated under it. The upholstery is glued to the roof upholstery frame made of high-strength polystyrene. The edges of the upholstery around the perimeter go around the edge of the frame. The upholstery frame is attached to the body frame with screws. At the front of the roof, the upholstery is pressed against the body frame with screws securing the sun visors, rear-view mirror and handrails.
The upholstery 52 of the roof side panels is made of ABS plastic and is each secured by three spring holders integral with the upholstery, for which fastening holes are provided along the front and rear edges of the inner roof side panel.
The upholstery of 46 and 48 A-pillars and B-pillars is made of black ABS plastic. The upholstery of the A-pillars is fixed with screws with a black decorative and protective coating. Screws are located in inconspicuous places. The upholstery of the central pillars is installed on hooks made at the same time with it, into the holes of the pillars and is fixed at the top with a screw.
The sides of the front end are covered with an upholstery 43 made of fiberboard, which is fixed along the rear edge with two holders into the openings of the body through the openings in the upholstery. The front part of the upholstery is secured with wire holders riveted to the upholstery. The front surface of the upholstery is covered with a film with a decorative coating.
The right and left upholstery of the front floor, the floor casings, the rear part of the body, the air intake boxes are made of layered sound-absorbing panels with a bituminous layer 2 mm thick. The upholstery is covered on both sides with a polyethylene film. The floor of the body is covered with black PVC mats 55, which are fixed with screws. Medium pile floor mats with zippers type "burdock". In the door openings, the mats are pressed with facing thresholds made of polypropylene.
The upholstery 47 of the doors is made of ABS plastic and is attached to the inner panels of the doors with plastic holders 44.
The interior trim of the VAZ-2105 car body of the first releases may differ slightly.
