Drill ∅out the contact welding points of the panel with a drill ∅6 mm (figure 177) with the front shield, mudguard 8, connectors, grooves 3 of the roof beam 7, sidewalls 4 and inner pillars 5 of the frame. Remove the frame panel, straighten the edges of the mating parts and clean them with a grinder on both sides. Drill holes with a ∅ 5 mm drill on the edges of the new panel at the joints with a pitch of: with the frame reinforcement 2 at the window opening 90 mm, in the engine compartment opening 60 mm, with the front shield 40-50 mm, with grooves 3 of the sidewalls 30-35 mm, with the sidewalls 4 and pillars 5 of the frame 45 mm, with the roof beam 7 60 mm (in the place of the window opening there are three holes with a pitch of 400 mm), with connectors 20-30 mm.
Figure 177. Complete (a) and partial (b) replacement options of the windshield frame panel: 1 - frame panel; 2 - frame reinforcement; 3 - drainage gutter; 4 - side panel; 5 - inner frame stand; 6 - roof panel; 7 - roof beam; 8 - mudguard. Arrows on the fragments show the drilling locations
Clean the edges of the frame panel, install the frame reinforcement in place and weld it to the frame using carbon dioxide electric welding. Install the panel with the reinforcement in place and secure it with clamps. Install the front fenders and hood in place and check the fit of the panel. Weld the panel at the corners using gas welding and check the fit of the panel again.
Remove the front fenders and hood, weld the panel at the drilled points using carbon dioxide welding with wire Sv.08G1S and put the removed parts back in place.
When partially replacing the windshield frame panel (see figure 177, b) the contact welding points of the damaged part of the panel are drilled out, the damaged part of the panel is cut off with a thin sharp chisel or cut off with a grinder and removed from the frame. The new part of the panel is installed on the body, secured with clamps and welded using the technology of replacing the entire panel.
