- disconnect the wires from the battery, from the starter traction relay and from the top dead center sensor;
- disconnect the speedometer drive cable from the speedometer drive housing by unscrewing the cap nut;
- disconnect the wire «masses» from the clutch housing;
- unscrew the top dead center sensor from the clutch housing;
- disconnect the cable from the clutch release fork by unscrewing nuts 5 for this (see fig. 57) from the bottom tip of the cable;
- unscrew the two upper bolts for fastening the clutch housing to the engine block and the upper nut for fastening the starter, fix the bracket for slinging the power unit on the left stud of the engine exhaust manifold.
Installed on the gutters crossbar 67.7820.9514 (pic. 65) to support the engine and hook its hook into the bracket mounted on the exhaust manifold stud. In the absence of a cross member, the power unit is hung out with a hoist.

From below the car perform the following operations:
- remove the engine mudguard and the lower cover of the clutch housing;
- drain the oil from the gearbox; disconnect the wires from the reverse light switch;
- loosen clamp 11 (pic. 66) and disconnect the rod 10 from the hinge of the gear selection rod;
- unscrew the nut from the stud securing the upper part of the gearbox;
- disconnect the ball joints of the suspension arms from the steering knuckles;
- using a puller 67.7801.9524 or by sharply hitting the body 12 of the internal hinge with a hammer through a punch, the hinges are knocked out of the side gears and the wheel drive shafts are taken to the side. In case of difficulty in disengaging the wheel drive from the side gear on the car, the gearbox assembly with the wheel drive is removed and on the workbench, using the same puller, the hinge is pressed out of the side gear;
- on the left side, three nuts are unscrewed from the studs of the gearbox to the left bracket 2 of the suspension of the power unit, and then the nut from the bolt of the bracket itself. Having removed the bracket from the gearbox studs, remove the suspension bracket 2 from the lugs of the body side member;
- unscrew the bolts of the rear support 9 of the suspension of the power unit;
- unscrew the lower bolts of the starter and remove it;
- install a special stand with a hydraulic lift under the gearbox and, having slightly lowered the engine, unscrew the lower bolt securing the crankcase to the engine block and displace the gearbox assembly with the clutch housing from the engine to separate the gearbox shaft and the clutch disc;
- remove the gearbox. In this case, the input shaft of the box must not be supported on the petals of the clutch pressure spring, so as not to damage them.
