Every 30,000 km, check the fastening of the rear suspension parts.
Checking the condition of the rear suspension is carried out by inspection. At the same time, attention is paid to the absence of cracks and deformations on the elements of the rear suspension beam and shock absorbers, the condition of the rubber-metal hinges of the levers and shock absorbers, the condition of the protective covers of the shock absorbers and the absence of fluid leakage from them.
If cracks and deformations are found on the beam, replace the suspension beam, since welding and straightening work is not allowed here due to the possibility of violating the wheel alignment angles. A damaged or broken suspension spring, a deformed shock absorber must also be replaced. Rubber-metal hinges should be replaced if the rubber bulges or their ends are cut. If the shock absorber guard does not seal the top of the shock absorber, replace it.
The condition of the shock absorber can be checked in the following way:
- install the car on a flyover or inspection ditch and swing it by the rear bumper, applying a force of 40... 50 kgf. With serviceable shock absorbers, the number of free oscillations of the body should not exceed three;
- Disconnect the lower shock absorber mounting point and pump it by hand. A serviceable shock absorber circulates smoothly, without dips and jams, with little resistance, which should be greater during the rebound stroke than during the compression stroke.
Shock absorber performance is restored by replacing worn or damaged parts. This work is recommended to be carried out at a service station, although with certain skills it can be done independently.
At the same time, when rocking the body, the shock absorber mounting and the condition of the bushings and shock absorber mounting parts are checked.
