Check the fastening of the rear suspension parts every 30,000 km.
The condition of the rear suspension is checked by inspection. At the same time, attention is paid to the absence of cracks and deformations on the elements of the rear suspension beam and shock absorbers, the condition of the rubber-metal hinges of the levers and shock absorbers, the condition of the protective covers of the shock absorbers and the absence of fluid leaks from them.
If cracks and deformations are found on the beam, replace the suspension beam, since welding and straightening work is not allowed here due to the possibility of violating the wheel alignment angles. A damaged or broken suspension spring and a deformed shock absorber are also subject to replacement. Rubber-metal hinges should be replaced if the rubber bulges or their ends are cut. If the shock absorber protective cover does not ensure the tightness of the upper part of the shock absorber, replace it.
The condition of the shock absorber can be checked in the following way:
- place the car on a ramp or inspection pit and swing it by the rear bumper, applying a force of 40...50 kgf. If the shock absorbers are in good condition, the number of free vibrations of the body should not exceed three;
- disconnect the lower attachment point of the shock absorber and pump it by hand. A serviceable shock absorber pumps smoothly, without dips or jams, with a small resistance, which during the rebound stroke should be greater than during the compression stroke.
Restoring the functionality of shock absorbers is done by replacing worn or damaged parts. It is recommended to carry out this work at a service station, although with certain skills it can be done independently.
At the same time, while rocking the body, the shock absorber mounts and the condition of the bushings and shock absorber mounting parts are checked.
