There are three most common reasons for the disappearance of idling:
- clogging of the idle jet EMK;
- EMC burnout;
- lack of EMC power.
Required for work: wrenches on "8", "10", "12", "13", "14", a 12 volt probe or test light with wires, a piece of wire with bare ends, a compressor or an air pump.
All listed carburetors have a solenoid valve in the idle system (EMC) with idle jet. The valve is controlled by the forced idle electronic unit.
1. Remove the air filter housing cover by unscrewing the nut with a spanner "10" and unfasten the spring clips.
Remove the air filter. Loosen the four nuts with a spanner "8", use a screwdriver to loosen the crankcase ventilation hose clamp at the connection to the valve cover and remove the air filter housing.
2. Turn on the ignition. Remove the power cable from the EMC. Try touching the power wire terminal to the EMK terminal several times.
Do you hear distinct clicks at the moment of touching?
No: see point 4.
3. Key on "13" (on "12" or "14" depending on execution) unscrew the EMC from the carburetor cover. Use two fingers to remove the idle fuel jet. Pay attention to the center hole: remove the specks from it using a compressor or air pump, and make sure that the clearance hole is clean. Install the fuel jet in place. Install the EMC in place and wrap by hand until it stops. Plug in the power cord and start the engine.
4. Key on "13" ("12" or "14", depending on execution) unscrew the EMC from the carburetor cover. Using an extra piece of wire, apply " " from the battery to the EMK terminal, with its body touch the terminal several times "–" battery.
Do you hear distinct clicks at the moment of touching?
Yes: see point 6.
5. The EMC burned out. Replace with a serviceable one, after checking it. To get to the nearest auto shop, you can convert a faulty EMC to a forced open one. To do this, remove the idle fuel jet with two fingers, break off the plastic tip of the valve and put the jet in place. Install the EMC in place and wrap by hand until it stops. Plug in the power cord and start the engine. Keep in mind that when using such a valve, problems with turning off the engine may occur: it will try to work after the ignition is turned off. In such a situation, try not to immediately turn off the engine, but let it idle for at least 5 minutes, and after turning off the ignition, gently press the pedal "gas" all the way.
6. Reinstall the EMC. Turn on the ignition and check with a tester or test lamp for " " on the EMC power wire terminal. If there is no power, the electronic control unit for forced idling is out of order.
The electronic control unit for forced idling cannot be repaired. Replacing it is not difficult, but in order to get to the nearest auto shop, you can temporarily supply power to the EMC using an additional wire, at least from the terminal " B" ignition coils. As an option, you can, having previously unbent the rubber boot from the wire bundle connector of the forced idle unit, connect the wires to the terminals with a jumper "4" And "6". The numbering order of the terminals is indicated on the cover of the electronic unit to the right and left of the connector - numbers "1" And "7".
Tip: A common engine problem associated with the forced idle unit is a significant reduction in engine speed (up to a complete stop) when the clutch is depressed, such as when shifting gears or stopping at a traffic light. In this case, in order to safely get to a car shop or car service, it is enough to disconnect the connector of the control circuit of the forced idle unit, located near the mixture amount adjusting screw.
