Check interval: Every 15,000 km.
Replace brake pads if necessary.
The minimum allowable thickness of the friction linings of the pads is 1.5 mm. If the pads are worn up to 1.5 mm or more, replace the sets of shoes in the brake mechanisms.
Engage the parking brake and place chocks under the rear wheels.
Clear the brake mechanism of dirt.
Attention! Do not use gasoline, diesel fuel or any other mineral solvents to clean the brakes.
Attention! The pads are replaced on both sides of the car.
Attention! It is unacceptable to replace the inner and outer pads with each other, as well as between the left and right wheels. This can lead to uneven braking.
Attention! If the brake fluid level in the reservoir is at "MAX" or approaches it, pump some of the fluid out of the tank.
1. Remove the front wheel (see subsection 2.23.).
2. Visually check the condition of the pads through the hole in the brake caliper housing. If the thickness of the pads is about 2 mm, it is recommended to replace the pads.
3. Take out from an arm a rubber sealant together with a hose.
4. Bend the tab of the upper bolt lock washer with a screwdriver.
5. Unscrew the upper bolt securing the bracket housing, holding the guide pin by the hexagon with a wrench.
6. Rotate the brace body down around the axis of the lower pin.
7. Mark the brake pads if you intend to reinstall them.
8. Remove the brake pads.
9. Check the condition of the brake pads. Replace them in the following cases: a) lining thickness less than 1.5 mm; b) the surface of the pads is oiled; V) the friction lining is loosely connected to the base. Linings should not have deep grooves and chips.
10. Remove dirt and rust from the brake parts, especially the brake pad seats. Do this carefully so as not to damage the protective cover of the cylinder.
11. When installing new pads, press the piston into the cylinder. Replace worn brake pads (instead of the inner one, it is better to put only the base) and lift the bracket body. Pressing a screwdriver or pry bar on the inner pad and leaning on the brake disc, gently press the piston into the cylinder.
12. Install new brake pads. The pressure springs should be parallel to the top edge of the pads. Install the old pads in accordance with the previously made markings.
13. Turn the bracket body up and tighten the upper mounting bolt with a torque of 31–38 Nm (3.1–3.8 kgf·m), while holding the guide pin on the hexagon with a wrench.
14. Bend the tab of the lock washer with a screwdriver. Install the wheel and lower the vehicle to the ground, then press the brake pedal several times to set the piston to the working position. Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir and top up if necessary (see subsection 2.19.).
