- multimeter in ohmmeter mode with a measurement limit of 0.1 to 10 kOhm);
- thermometer with a change limit of at least 100°C;
- a small heat-resistant container with a volume of about 0.5 liters.
Helpful advice. The thermometer can be replaced with a digital multimeter with thermometer mode.
Removing
1. We drain the coolant from the engine cooling system on the car.
2. For convenience, remove the air filter.
3. Remove the protective cover from the coolant temperature gauge sensor and disconnect the wire tip from the sensor output.
4. Using a 21 mm key, we turn the DTOZH sensor out of the cylinder head.
Examination
We check the sensor in the same way as the coolant temperature sensor of the engine management system. Connect the ohmmeter probes to the input and to the sensor housing.
The resistance of a serviceable DTOZH sensor should be close to the data indicated in the table:
Coolant temperature,°С | DTOZH resistance (coolant temperature sensor), Ohm |
100 90 70 50 30 |
less than 109 155-196 280-390 585-820 1350-1880 |
We replace the defective coolant temperature sensor.
The marking of the coolant temperature sensor is applied on the hexagonal part of its body.
Installation
We install the DTOZH sensor and all previously removed parts on the car in the reverse order of removal.
We fill the engine cooling system with liquid. We start the engine and make sure that there is no coolant leak from under the sensor. If necessary, reinstall the sensor, applying a heat-resistant sealant to its threaded part.
