- multimeter in ohmmeter mode with a measurement range from 0.1 to 10 kOhm);
- thermometer with a range of at least 100°C;
- a small heat-resistant container with a capacity of about 0.5 l.
Helpful Hint: The thermometer can be replaced with a digital multimeter with a thermometer mode.
Removal
1. Drain the coolant from the engine cooling system of the vehicle.
2. For ease of work, remove the air filter.
3. Remove the protective cover from the coolant temperature gauge sensor and disconnect the wire tip from the sensor terminal.

4. Using a 21 mm wrench, unscrew the coolant temperature sensor from the cylinder head.

Examination
We check the sensor in the same way as the engine management system coolant temperature sensor. The ohmmeter probes should be connected to the input and to the sensor body.
The resistance of a serviceable coolant temperature sensor should be close to the data specified in the table:

We replace the faulty coolant temperature sensor.
The marking of the coolant temperature sensor is applied to the hexagonal part of its housing.

Installation
We install the coolant temperature sensor and all previously removed parts on the car in the reverse order of removal.
Fill the engine cooling system with liquid. Start the engine and make sure there is no coolant leak from under the sensor. If necessary, reinstall the sensor, applying heat-resistant sealant to its threaded part.
